Around 600 labels to taste for Wine&Siena 2023

They come from Sicily, Campania, Apulia, Sardinia, Lombardy, Alto Adige, Friuli.

And there is clearly no shortage of Tuscany, Piedmont and Veneto. There are also regions like Abruzzo, Emilia Romagna, Lazio. Together, excellences of gastronomy, around 60 products including chocolates, cheeses, oil, meat and salami, beer, cold meats, pasta, rice, cereals, grappa and liqueurs, beer and more from Campania to Alto Adige via Tuscany, Marche, Abruzzo and beyond.

600 Selected Wine Labels

There will be some 600 wine labels selected by The Wine Hunter in the taste trail at Santa Maria della Scala with Wine&Siena i Capolavori del Gusto from 27 to 30 January. And together, excellences of gastronomy, about 60 products including chocolates, cheeses, oil, meat and salami, beer, cold meats, pasta, rice, cereals, grappa and liqueurs, beer and more from Campania to Alto Adige passing through Tuscany, Marche and Abruzzo.

These are the excellence protagonists of Wine&Siena I capolavori del Gusto. Siena in fact confirms itself as the location for the first major event of the year in wine in Italy thanks to the event that returns to the city from 27 to 30 January ’23, as per tradition, to start the wine year and kick off an entire year of appointments signed by The WineHunter. Among the wine labels there will be bubbles such as Champagne, Piedmont’s Alta Langa, Oltrepo Pavese, Franciacorta, and Valdobbiadene’s Docg proseccos. In the prestigious halls of Santa Maria della Scala there will be fragrant mountain wines from Alto Adige, wines from Collio in Friuli, precious wines from the Amalfi Coast, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Fiano, Greco from Campania, and there will also be white wines from Etna in Sicily, Vermentini and Viognier from Tuscany and Timorasso from Piedmont. Moving on to the reds, there will be Lambrusco, Sagrantino di Montefalco, Barolo and Barbera from Piedmont.

The Best Tuscan Wines

From Tuscany there will be Chianti and Chianti Classico, Nobile and Brunello, Montecucco, Bolgheri, Carmignano and Valdarno Superiore. From Sicily comes Etna Rosso, Nero d’Avola and Syrah. There will also be Pelaverga, the wine that comes from an indigenous Piedmontese black grape variety, mainly grown in the province of Cuneo. It has scents of rose and raspberry and slight notes of geranium and can be enjoyed as a cool wine in summer.

The 8th edition of Wine&Siena will once again be held in the prestigious halls of Santa Maria della Scala

The event, desired by the Patron of Merano WineFestival Helmuth Köcher and the President of Confcommercio Siena Stefano Bernardini, immerses producers and visitors in Siena, where the cultural heritage marries the best wine and gastronomic productions awarded by The WineHunter Award. Valuable collaborations with the Chamber of Commerce of Arezzo Siena, the Municipality of Siena, and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena. The event also has the patronage of the Region of Tuscany. It will take place in unique locations such as the Palazzo Comunale, the Grand Hotel Continental Siena – Starhotels Collezione and the Santa Maria della Scala. It begins on Friday 27 January 2023, ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. at the Palazzo Comunale. Then at 8 p.m. the Small Plates Dinner returns to the Santa Maria Della Scala – Palazzo Squarcialupi. With the Sensory Paths, the event starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday 28 January at Santa Maria della Scala, where it will go on until 6 p.m. with tastings of food and wine products from the Wine, Food & Spirits, Extrawine, and Consortia exhibitors. Also on Sunday 29 January, stands will be open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Lastly, with Wine&Siena 2023, the day of Monday 30 January will be dedicated to sector operators and the press, a unique opportunity to taste and discover new products and get to know the producing companies. Protagonists of the programme, Masterclasses, meetings dedicated to the world of wine and agriculture, presentations, and visits to the palaces of Siena.
